Covid Updates: With 2,539 fresh cases, Children in 12-14 age group receive their First Jab

India has reported 2,539 fresh Covid-19 cases along with 60 deaths in the last 24 hours. More than 1.37 lakh adolescents in 12-14 year age group were administered with the first dose of Corbevax.

On Thursday, India has reported 2,539 fresh Covid-19 cases along with 60 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the data updated by the Union Health Ministry. With this, the death toll in the country has reached to 5,16,132. As per the ministry, the active Covid cases in the country have declined to 30,799 and the recovery rate has improved to 98.73%.  


India's Active caseload currently stands at 30,799 which is 0.07% of the active caseload. Whereas, the nation's recovery rate currently stands at 98.73%, said the ministry. 

With 4,491 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the caseload of total recoveries has reached to 4,24,54,546, showed the data. 

The country's daily positivity rate stands at 0.35% and the weekly positivity rate stands at 0.42%. 

Covid-19 in Delhi

Delhi has reported 144 fresh Covid-19 cases, one death yesterday, as per state health department. The positivity rate of the national capital stands at 0.39 per cent, said officials, as reported by news agency PTI. With the latest update, the national capital's case load has reached to 18,63,345, while the death toll rose to 26,144, stated the health bulletin. 

Children in the age group 12-14 years got their first jab 

On Wednesday, the first day of the vaccination drive, more than 1.37 lakh adolescents in 12-14 year age group were injected with the first dose of Corbevax till 7pm. 

“Today, India has administered over 180 crore doses, which includes over nine crore doses in age group of 15-17 and over two crore precaution doses. This forms an important protective shield for our citizens against Covid-19,” he said in a series of tweets.
