On Tuesday, India recorded 25,166 fresh Covid-19 cases which is 23.5% lower than yesterday. The total number of infections in the country stands at 3,22,50,679. 437 new fatalities are recorded in the last 24 hours, the death toll has increased to 4,32,079. Currently, the country's active caseload is 3,69,846. 3,14,48,754 in total have recovered so far, with 36,830 patients recovering during last 24 hours, according to the data released by Health Ministry on Tuesday.

As per the data released by Health Ministry, 54.58 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the country. More than 88.13 lakh vaccine doses were administered in India on August 16, the Union Health Ministry's latest provisional report suggested. On the August 16, 70.76 lakh beneficiaries got their first dose and 17.37 lakh people were vaccinated with their second dose.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said, "the country took 85 days to touch the figure of 10 crore. It then took 45 days to cross the 20-crore mark and 29 more days to reach 30 crore. India took another 24 days to reach 40 crore and 20 more days to cross 50 crore vaccinations."
