Delta variant is another dangerous variant of SARS-CoV-2, which was first found in India and now spread to over 90 countries and is the dominant form of the virus in the U.K. The Delta plus variant has been formed, due to a mutation in the Delta or B.1.617.2 variant. This variant is highly transmissible and proving to be deadlier than the previous variants infecting humans. WHO listed this highly transmissible variant of the virus as the fourth variant of concern.

According to chief scientist, World Health Organization, the Delta variant is becoming the globally dominant version of the disease. 

According to an analysis from Public Health England (PHE), the delta variant is more transmissible than previous ones and thus more likely lead to treatment in the hospital.

Which Covid-19 vaccine is effective against Delta variant

The recent data indicate that vaccines are effective at preventing severe illness and death due to COVID-19, caused by the delta variant that would require hospital treatment.


Prevention against Delta variant of Covid-19 

According to WHO, the Covid-19 vaccine against the Delta variant seems losing its efficacy but still with both the doses of vaccines, it provides effective protection in the case of severe disease. It has been urged by many government health authorities, to follow the Covid-19 safety protocol,  to prevent yourself from the deadly disease. Some of the standard protocols are:

  • Vaccination
  • Hygiene
  • Face mask 
  • Avoid sitting together
  • Hand sanitization etc.
