On April 15, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared Class 10 results for 2026 with a total pass percentage of 93.70% (it is slightly higher than it was last year, at 93.66%). Of the total estimated number of students who took the test, about 24.71 lakh, about 23.16 lakh students passed.
Girls performed better again, with a pass percentage of 94.99 percent versus 92.69 percent for the boys. There was 87.50 in the transgender category. This stable trend depicts high academic achievement among girl students in the country.

The performance charts were dominated by southern regions. Trivandrum and Vijayawada shared the top spot with an impressive record of 99.79 percent pass, with Chennai (99.58 percent) and Bengaluru (98.91 percent) coming close behind. There was also a very good performance in Kendriya Vidyalaya and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.
About 8.96% of students scored above 90%, while 2.24% crossed 95% marks. The board attributed the timely announcement of results (almost one month earlier than scheduled) to digitization and effective validation of more than 1.6 crore answer sheets.
