Thousands of cops have been searching the knock and corner of Punjab for the Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh since 4 days. Recently he had been spotted through security footage from a toll plaza.

The 30-year-old radical preacher passed across a toll booth in Jalandhar, at around 11.27 am on Saturday. The video of his escape had been recorded in the CCTV camera of the nearby toll booth. Notably the Punjab police launched its operation to arrest him that day only. 

In the footage he could be seen in the front seat of a Maruti Brezza. Earlier Amritpal Singh was seen in a Mercedes SUV on Saturday. As per the sources he dumped it by a road in Shahkot shifting to a Maruti Brezza car of an associate after few hours. He must have changed his clothes in the car, as the footage shows him in a shirt instead of his usual religious clothes. He also changed his turban before escaping with three others in two bikes.

The Brezza along with the four allies who helped Amritpal Singh in escaping have been arrested. Since Saturday around 120 people, including the accused’s uncle, have been arrested. Many of his supporters belonging to "Waris Punjab De" have also been arrested under the stringent National Security Act (NSA) and detained in BJP-ruled Assam. Internet was suspended for three days but was restored in parts today.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court not only criticised the Punjab police, they also asked how Amritpal Singh could slip from their hands repeatedly which it considered an intelligence failure. The High Court asked the Punjab government "You have 80,000 cops. What were they doing? How did Amritpal Singh escape?”

The police began seeking to arrest Amritpal Singh after three weeks of the clashing between his supporters and cops on February 23. They attacked a police station with swords and firearms and threatened the cops with huge consequences if they denied releasing Singh's aide Lovepreet Toofan. Lovepreet was arrested for assaulting and capturing a man. 

Amritpal Singh claims himself as the nfollower of terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, who was killed in Operation Bluestar in 1984, and is thus known as "Bhindranwale 2.0" among his supporters.
