A major Chinese technological and enterprise manufacturing firm, in a show of unusual corporate generosity, gave out bonuses in terms of cash to their employees amounting to around Rs 238 crore (or 200 million yuan) in late February 2026. The climax of the research was a colossal indoor staging that featured a neatly stacked bundle of bundles of 100-yuan notes over long tables so that the workers could walk up and take their bit.
Video and photo footage of the incident quickly circulated through China's social media, like Weibo and Douyin. Hype and delighted employees (factory workers to mid-level managers) crammed bags and backpacks with cash under bright lamps and business banners. The event was allegedly planned by the management in recognition of its record annual profits, annual performance, and employee contribution in an otherwise difficult economic year.
The company that deals with consumer electronics components and employs more than 15,000 people indicated that the bonuses were performance-based, and the best performers were given an amount that was equal to years' salary. The lower-level employees still took home huge sums, which made them feel better and ensured their loyalty in the face of growing living expenses.
It was observed that the spectacle is in line with a trend rising among successful Chinese companies to employ dramatic and physical rewards (cash piles, luxury cars, or gold bars) to reward teams and create good PR. Critics, though, doubted the fact that such glamorous distributions would contribute to long-term welfare only but were rather short-term hype.
The viral video generated a lot of envy and talks on the internet, with several netizens boasting of wishing to be employed there the following day. The company mainly goes by the name of a mid-to-large-sized private enterprise, although it has not been publicly referred to in the world media, except by insiders. This is a sweeping gesture that brings to the fore the manner in which certain Chinese enterprises are exploiting attractive rewards to be exceptional in a competitive talent environment.
