Fake Income Tax Raid Gang BUSTED in UP's Ghazipur—Shopkeepers Foil Extortion; 7 Arrested, Including Woman, Video Goes Viral!

On Thursday, 1st November, a group of fakers masquerading as income tax and GST officials were caught by alert shopkeepers in the Shadiyabad market of Ghazipur and overcharging people with their extortion money. Seven accused police, including a woman, were arrested after the alarm was raised by traders.

A large gang that posed as income tax and GST officials was in a big bust by the Uttar Pradesh Police in the Ghazipur district on April 4-5, 2026. The gang attacked Shadiyabad shopkeepers and other markets and performed fake raids of the targeted shopkeepers, threatening penalties and demanding huge amounts of money.

One of such attempts caused suspicion and made vigilant traders take three members of the gang red-handed. They straight away reported the case to the police, which resulted in arresting seven suspects, including a woman. The arrested people include Mr. Anil Kumar, Sadanand Prasad, Pramod Kumar, Ravi Patel, Deva Patel, Sanket Gupta, and Sushila Gupta.

The gang leader by his real name Sars Kumar Gupta managed to escape and is now absconding. He has also been forming teams that are being hunted down by police, and there is more investigation that is being conducted. One of the vehicles belonging to the gang was also confiscated.

An online video has captured a dramatic moment of the confrontation and arrest involving the imposters in which angry shopkeepers are seen arresting the imposters. The incident has been compared to the movie Special 26, and it has emphasized the need to ensure that society is aware of such deception.
