The family of Ramdhani Yadav, who was the 46-year-old man who died in the tragic pillar failure in the Mumbai Metro in Mystic Falls on February 14, 2026, has refused to claim his body at the hospital and protested against what transpired at the accident site, insisting that 1 of the kids was entitled 2 crore in compensation and a government job.
The accident involved a parapet piece (6x4 feet concrete slab) of the under-construct metro line-4 viaduct on LBS Marg which collapsed on a passing autorickshaw and a vehicle on Saturday afternoon. A Samajwadi Party worker, who was a local poll tax official in Uttar Pradesh and head of a village, Ramdhani Yadav, was on his way to a wedding when he died on the spot as the autorickshaw was carrying people. There were also three others who were injured, including the driver of the autorickshaw Rajkumar Yadav (45), who is still in a critical condition.
On a Sunday, the 15 th of February, relatives of Yadav with the support of members of Yadav community congregated at the site and at the outside of Rajawadi Hospital. They refused the initial announcement of ₹5 lakh ex-gratia by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and an offer of ₹1520 lakh by contractors with an announcement being reduced to 304731.00 with an amount of)1520 lakh, declaring they wanted much more considering the 5-6 crore fines on the contractors(RAJV-Milan Infra and DB-Hill-LBG consortium) and consultants. (Assuming that MMRDA can get 5- 6 crore money back in contractors) but why not take 1-2 crore for loss of life? family members enquired, as the family security requirements, in the future, consisted of three daughters of 15-20 years, education, and the marriage costs.
They had a deadline of 5 PM of a written promise by authorities or face road blockade or chakka jam. Local MLA Mihir Kotecha and ex-MP Manoj Kotak took sides in negotiations and the police filed an FIR and charged five officials of the contractors and consultants.
The MMRDA promised to settle the medical bills of the injured as guaranteed by policy, priority compensation, and high-level investigation, an executive engineer was suspended and structural audit was ordered by Deputy CM Eknath Shinde. There were safety failure in infrastructure projects that were criticized by opposition leaders.
On February 16, 2026, the family protest was going on, highlighting the human price of negligence in construction and the need to go beyond the regular relief and be accountable.
