Farmers Agitation: Narendra Tomar urges to go home after farm laws withdrawal

On Saturday, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar asked farmers protesting three farm regulations on the city's outskirts to call off their demonstrations and return home, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement that the legislation will be repealed.


"On the first day of the winter session, a bill to repeal the three farm laws will be introduced in Parliament (on November 29). Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the formation of a committee to discuss crop diversification, zero-budget farming, and improving the MSP system's transparency and effectiveness. Farmers' organizations will be represented on this committee "Tomar said the ANI news agency.



"Farmers' desire for MSP has been met with the formation of this committee. Farmers' associations had pushed for the decriminalization of stubble burning. This demand has also been accepted by the Indian government "he stated "It is pointless to continue farmers' protests after the repeal of the three farm legislation was announced. I urge farmers to put an end to their protests and return home "he stated



Since November 26, 2020, farmers have been protesting against farm laws on Delhi's numerous boundaries.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared last week that the Centre will introduce appropriate bills to repeal the farm rules during the winter session of Parliament, which begins later this month.


The government will also form a group to work on a new Minimum Support Price structure, according to the Prime Minister (MSP). The introduction and passing of the Farm Laws Repeal Bill, 2021 has been scheduled. It is one of 26 new bills on the government's agenda. The Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance, Farm Services Act, 2020, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020 are all set to be repealed by the Farm Laws Repeal Bill, 2021.


Farmers will return home when the government fulfills their demand for a law on Minimum Support Price, according to Bharatiya Kisan Union chairman Rakesh Tikait (MSP).
