Central Railway On Monday, India saw the unveiling of the first non-air-conditioned (non-AC) EMU adjacent in commercial cities. India Central Railway introduced the first Kurla Carshed in Mumbai with the automatic door-closing systems. The 12-car train, which was made at the Integral Coach Factory, Perambur, Chennai, is a significant milestone in making commuters safe in the busiest suburban network on the globe.
The rake has automatic sliding doors—opening time is approximately three seconds and closing time is four seconds, which have a dwell time of thirty seconds. It incorporates better ventilation by use of blowers placed on the roof and using louvers to ensure air moves without opening the doors. The train consists of 19 compartments such as first-class, lady's, and Divyang coaches.
This comes almost a decade after the horrible Mumbra accident that led to five deaths as a result of open-door traveling. The officials indicated that the train will now be rigorously tested and checked by RDSO before its introduction to passenger services. To mitigate the overcrowding and footboard travel risks, Central Railway will be a bit slow in adding such safety measures to non-AC rakes in the future.
