The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) and Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) are about to add Ghaziabad city to the list of cities equipped with an international-standard cricket facility, with the ongoing work accelerated to build a new stadium in the Morti region close to Raj Nagar Extension.
The proposed stadium is a planned stadium on a landscape of 31-38 acres and will have a seating capacity of between 35,000 and 55,000 spectators. It will have state-of-the-art facilities such as corporate boxes, a media center, floodlights, and a sports academy that will be constructed to international standards.
The previously estimated cost of the project at approximately 450 crore and included in a bigger 2200 crore integrated development including an Aerocity township has gained fresh impetus in 2026, with the finalization of outstanding land use and floor area ratio-related issues. The authorities hope that building will pick up in the coming months, and even in the future, the venue is likely to accommodate domestic cricket, T20 matches, as well as even IPL matches.
This has been welcomed as a significant contribution to sports infrastructures in Delhi-NCR and western Uttar Pradesh with prospects of employment and making Ghaziabad well entrenched on the Indian cricketing map. The vision of the state government gives the long-awaited project, which was initially a concept, priority.
