On March 3, 2026, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) deployed and massively announced a series of specialized helpline numbers and emergency contacts to the Indian nationals living or working in the Middle East, as hostilities between Iran, Israel, the US, and the regional powers rapidly escalated.

The spokesperson of MEA, Randhir Jaiswal, added, "We are concerned with Indian nationals' welfare and safety as our overriding priority." We also request that Indians in the area remain cautious, not travel needlessly, and enroll/renew their profiles on the MADAD portal or with Indian missions.

  • Stay away from unnecessary travels, congested places, demonstrations, and borderlands.

  • Monitor local recommendations and pack up some travel records, banknotes, and medicines.

  • Follow the official MEA social media accounts and embassy websites in order to be informed about real-time developments.

This is among the largest diaspora evacuations that the government may require organizing due to an unfolding situation, as more than 8.5 million Indians on the other end of the Gulf and Middle East live and work there. The MEA has also mobilized its crisis management team and is communicating with airlines on the prospects of charter flights in case there is a disruption in the commercial activities.

The citizens are also advised to remain calm and not to panic, but only call the helplines when there is an actual emergency so that they leave lines free to serve people in need.
