The National Council staff side of the National Council Joint Consultative Machinery (NC-JCM) has put forward an entry-level basic pay of a minimum of 69000 to the 8th Central Pay Commission, which is an increase of the present minimum of 18000 under the 7th Pay Commission.

They have also come up with an increment of 3 to 6 per annum, a fitment element of 3.833, and a top salary of 215,000. Other important demands are the combination of pay rates, an increase in House Rent Allowance (HRA) to 30 percent, and the resumption of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).

The proposals will assist more than 50 lakh central government workers and pensioners to withstand the increasing inflation and rising standards of living costs. The 8th Pay Commission consultations have started and will be implemented starting January 1, 2026. The government will come up with the final recommendations after a thorough consideration.
