Legal Recourse Planned After Seeking Advice, Says Jharkhand Cabinet Minister
Mithilesh Thakur, a Cabinet minister from Jharkhand, shared insights into Hemant Soren's plan. Thakur noted that Soren would consult legal experts before pursuing legal action against the ED's summons. Thakur also alluded to a discussion on the matter within the upcoming meeting of the opposition INDIA bloc in Maharashtra, focused on safeguarding democratic values and the constitution from undermining forces.
Protests Possible, JMM Maintains Faith in Judiciary
The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) indicated its faith in the legal system and readiness to battle the ED in court. While confident in legal proceedings, the party's spokesperson, Manoj Pandey, acknowledged that if necessary, Jharkhand's citizens might protest against the summons. Party members warned of a mineral supply blockade if the ED acts based on political motivations.
Hemant Soren Raises Concerns, Skips ED Appearance
Hemant Soren accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating plans to destabilize his government since JMM's rise to power. Soren also questioned the timing of the summons and opted not to appear before the ED, citing his involvement in preparations for Jharkhand's Independence Day celebration.
