In another tragic instance of social media addiction being fatal, 15-year-old Namish (also known as Nameesh/Nimish) Sangalad died on Thursday evening in Hubballi, Karnataka, during a life-threatening stunt to film an Instagram Reel.
The 18-year-old was a son of BJP leader and developer Veeresh Sangalad and was riding an electric scooter (in other news, the Ola bike) trying an action brake reel, a simulated near-miss or crash, with friends in a luxury Audi car (or high-speed vehicle) at Shejawadkar Layout on the outskirts of the city.
This act terribly backfired, as the car could not brake in time and hit the car that Namish was driving. He sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot. It happened at some point of time around 4.30 PM in the Vidyanagar police limits, where the driver, who is also a teenager, allegedly lost control.
The police are in an investigation as they emphasize increasing concerns regarding dangerous reels to likes and views. Namish, a student of Class 9 at Mysuru who had gone there on Ugadi, had just completed the examination. This tragedy denotes the fatal hazards that are posed by viral stunts in young people. The government suggests that the parents should be on the lookout and take note of these harmful tendencies.
