Mithun Chakraborty, a 71 year old famous bollywood actor and BJP leader, has been questioned by Kolkata Police over his controversial speech in the Bengal Election campaign.

A First Information Report (FIR) has alleged that the speech played a role in instigating the post-poll violence in Bengal following the May 2 verdict, which led to a landslide victory for Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress.

In his speech during an election campaign, Chakraborty recited dialogues from his films: "Marbo khane lash porbe shoshane (Kill you here and the dead body will land in the crematorium)". In the speech that was wildly cheered, he had also recited these lines: "Ami joldhorao noi, bele borao noi... ami ekta cobra, ek chobol-ei chhobi (Don't mistake me for a harmless snake, I am a pure cobra,  one strike and you become a photograph."

Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress had won 213 seats in the West Bengal assembly elections held last month. The Bharatiya Janata Party has got 77 seats in the 294-seat state assembly.

Violence has been reported in many parts of West Bengal after the results of the assembly elections were announced on May 2.
