In a highly shocking incident that has caused a general furor in Maharashtra, the authorities acted on the bulldozer operation against unauthorized areas of a house in Paratwada in the Amravati district of a 19-year-old, Mohammad Ayaz, or Tanveer, or Ayan Ahmed Tanveer.

Ayaz was deported and arrested on charges of enticing Class 11-12 girls (mostly girls) into a love trap by using social media and messaging applications. He supposedly took them to Mumbai and Pune, raped them, and filmed more than 350 obscene videos and photographs. They were said to have blackmailed these victims with these materials in order to compel them to continue doing so and, in others, share them with the Internet.

This case was identified when BJP Rajya Sabha MP Anil Bonde filed a complaint. Cases registered by the police were under the POCSO Act, IT Act, and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Although the accused had alleged that there were approximately 180 girls involved, the authorities have already proven that they were in touch with fewer victims and are encouraging more families to contact them on the promise of confidentiality.

Maharashtra Police arrest man who sexually exploited 180 minor girls and captured 350 videos in Amravati.

Wednesday, the local municipal council pulled down portions of a one-story house Ayaz had constructed, on the reason of illegal construction/encroachment following the ignoring of notice given before. This was done in the presence of police. Ayaz has been handed over to police custody pending investigation.

The event has caused great civil outrage and calls to conduct a deep investigation, involving potential broader rackets. Police have sought the cooperation of victims and accentuated the security of their identities. This case raises serious questions about harnessing the internet safety of minors and the necessity to monitor the social media exploitation landscape with more stringent approaches.
