Kolkata: In a public appearance that would resonate with the people, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday evening briefly stopped her convoy in a busy market in Bhabanipur to buy vegetables and fruits. The TMC leader could be seen inspecting various stalls, asking about prices of potatoes, onions, and green vegetables, and personally purchasing vegetables and a bunch of fruit.
The impromptu visit took place while she was on her way back from attending a political rally and walking on foot in a part of her constituency in preparation for the 2026 Assembly elections. The move was compared to the PM Narendra Modi's recent viral appearance as he chows down on his favorite jhal muri.
Mamata’s relatable act has gone viral on social media, with fans appreciating her touch with the commoners. The clip captures her having friendly conversations with vendors and other customers. The visit shows her deep connection with the public in one of her electoral pockets—Bhabanipur—which is considered crucial.
