Prepare yourselves for one of the most spectacular naked-eye spectacles of the year in 2026! Venus, the brightest planet, and Jupiter form a dazzling, spectacular couple with a thin waxing crescent moon by their side that will form a wonderful and stunning celestial triangle visible in the evening western sky from May 18 to 20 in the entire Indian region.

The best opportunities for viewing will come on 19th May, when the Moon will be nicely placed between Venus and Jupiter not far after sunset. On May 18, the Moon will come closest to Venus, and on May 20, it will move nearer to Jupiter. It is a trio that will appear low in the west, so look for a clear area to the west.

No telescope or binoculars are required—Venus dazzles like a diamond, while Jupiter steadily glides, and Jupiter fits in the magical crescent moon. The show is brief—it starts about 60-90 minutes after the sun has set and ends when the objects set.

Ideal for families, beginners, and photography enthusiasts. It also is suitable for city dwellers, as the planets are sufficiently bright to pierce the city light-pollution problem. It is recommended to travel out 30-45 minutes after the sun sets and then turn west.

If you haven't already, mark your calendars and be sure to take in this rare cosmic event where you'll discover some of the wonders of our solar system, all from the comfort of your balcony or terrace. Sunny and good viewing of the stars!
