This controversy arose later in March 2026 when Namita Thapar posted a reel after Eid celebrations wherein she gave her input about Namaz concerning health perspectives. In her video, she emphasized the health benefits of practicing namaz, citing that it produces the same effect as a total body workout, which improves flexibility and helps maintain and keep the joints and knees healthy, in addition to stating that it maintains the repetitive and meditative aspect, which contributes to positive mental health.
She disclosed that trolls had not only abused her with derogatory words but had also dragged her mother into the act of abuse, even crossing all limits of decency. Thapar said that the harassment was so bad that she would just pull over at 7 AM along the trip on the 20th of April to film a response video.
In response to the criticism itself, Thapar noted that she has included no religious context in her words and that she has once talked about Hindu beliefs, including yoga and Surya Namaskar, without similar vitriol and could attribute the outcry itself as a form of selective outrage.
I was told, replied, that you think that R of Religion is R of Respect—but what does respect resemble, at least where women are concerned? In Hinduism, there exists the idea of karma, and I am the proud Hindu. Go on with whatever you want to say, but God is watching us all.
