Online registration for the Char Dham Yatra 2026 was scheduled to start today, and it was noted that registration would commence on March 6, 2026, with the announcement made by the same management board, which is the Char Dham Devasthanam Board and the government of Uttarakhand.
Pilgrims wishing to visit the four sacred shrines in the holy journey known as the four holy shrines, which are Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri, are required to book online through the official portal in order to get a confirmed berth. This is a compulsory measure, which allows regulating the number of people who visit daily, the movement of the crowds, and providing safety and ecological balance in the vulnerable Himalayan area.
Key Details:
- The PortalVue registration and tourist care at uk.gov.in or the Char Dham Yatra application needs to be downloaded.
- Registration Window → Open now; registering on a 10-day slots basis, and 10-day slots can be utilized by the whole yatra period (normally May-November 2026) on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Documents to be submitted: valid ID evidence (Aadhaar, voter ID, passport, etc.), cell phone number, and email address.
- Registration Fee → Processing fee (nominal, 0-50 Money per person; the amount can change)
- Daily Quota: Badrinath: Approx. 15-18,000; Gangotri and Yamunotri: Approx. 8000-12000 years each (423026 limits have to be reviewed shortly). Daily Limits Kedarnath: 18,000-20,000; Badrinath Other Daily Limits: 15,000-18,000 Gangotri and Yamunotri: Another Daily Limits Gangotri 8000
- Reasons to be mandatory? → Avoids overcrowding; minimizes accidents; provides ice, helicopter, and pony services in time; and assists to monitor health and safety (after-COVID situation) conditions.
It is recommended to make a reservation in advance, and such popular dates (especially May, June, and after monsoon) are always quick to get booked out. Upon registration, devotees are given a QR code/e-pass, which they are expected to present at the points of entry.
Uttarakhand Tourism and Devasthanam authorities have encouraged residents to check with the developer to get slots, as they have been requested to visit the official portal in order to avoid misleading agents who promise guaranteed slots.
The Char Dham Yatra is considered one of the most sacred pilgrimages in Hinduism, and all the thousands of millions of people take part in it every year.
