Just a huge BBC undercover report has revealed that immigration advisers are assisting Pakistani and Bangladeshi migrants in faking gay identities in a bid to seek asylum in the UK. Migrants with expiring student or working visas are reportedly trained to act like homosexuals, as they say they are being persecuted in their home country, where gay relations are criminalized.
Advisers offer an entire package such as pictures of gay clubs with staged photos, forged supporting letters, medical certificates, and coaching for interviews. It has been reported to cost as much as £7,000-8,000 (around 8.8 lakh) and guarantee great success.
Most law firms and advisers provided such services to undercover reporters who represented themselves as Pakistani students. This is a systematic abuse, critics say, which weakens the UK immigration system and puts the genuine asylum seekers in jeopardy. The Pakistani nationals already contribute to a substantial portion of the sexuality-based asylum claims. The undercover has led to a demand for close-up examination by the Home Office.
