Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked a significant moment by laying the foundation stone for an international cricket stadium in Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency. The event witnessed the presence of former Indian cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Ravi Shastri, along with notable cricket figures such as BCCI President Roger Binny, Vice-President Rajiv Shukla, and Secretary Jay Shah. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also graced the occasion.

The Uttar Pradesh government allocated ₹121 crore for land acquisition for the stadium, while the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) pledged ₹330 crore for its construction. Situated near the Ring Road in Rajatalab, this state-of-the-art stadium is projected to be completed by December 2025. It is worth noting that the spectators' gallery of the stadium will be designed to resemble the iconic steps of the ghats of Varanasi, adding a unique touch to the sporting facility. This stadium will become Uttar Pradesh's third international cricket venue, alongside Kanpur and Lucknow.
