The arresting footage is a video of a racially abused dance troupe of Arunachal Pradesh in a state government hospital in Patna on April 2, 2026. The group, who had gone to the city to perform a cultural dance, faced suspicion for not using a common washroom and were asked to show identity documents, even though it was open to everyone.

When the young women protested, another woman (who was apparently a hospital attendant or passerby) broke into laughter and threw derogatory insults at them, including "chinki," "momo," and "Chinese," asking her whether they were Indians. The abuser was faced by the victims who were visibly distressed recording the incident.

This video has caused colossal outrage in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and other states of the northeastern regions, and netizens have called to book action against Bihar Police and the hospital administration as well. People of the Northeast in mainland India were subject to chronic racism, as many pointed out.

So far, no FIR has been established, but the demands for accountability from Bihar authorities and Arunachal CM Pema Khandu are gaining traction. The incident reinforces once again the necessity to be more aware and sensitive to Northeast Indians.
