During a hot debate over artificial intelligence at the Indian AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai made an enjoyable trip to enjoy the best brews in India. On 19 February 2026, Pichai paid a visit to the Bharat GI Coffee Lounge, organized on the occasion of the first embodiment of demonstrating the popularity of Indian products in the global market by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and the Coffee Board of India at Bharat Mandapam (Hall 14), the first floor.
The lounge was a part of the new initiative, named Bharat GI, an umbrella program in the whole world to spread Geographical Indication (GI), and presented high-quality Indian coffees, including Malabar, Araku, Coorg, etc. Pichai had tried Malabar Arabica and played well with baristas; he was delighted.
“Wow!” With his initial swallow, Pichai said, with a smile, "Malabar Arabica is near us," which pointed out the deep, liquid flavors of the brew. The moment of candor immediately went viral; videos and photos have spread on social media.
Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal added the highlight that X: when @SundarPichai comes to sample a teaspoonful, it is definitely worth it! Bharat GI Coffee is getting a cup raise in the world at #IndiaAIImpactSummit2026. The campaign is expected to brand GI-tagged coffees in India as a worldwide brand exclusive, which will increase exports, quality, and image.
This impromptu coffee break was an enchantingly surprising backdrop to the high-stake AI discussions at the summit, where Pichai too gave a speech on how India is becoming a key player in the AI era. GI coffees in India grabbed an eye with the audacious tunes of Malabar and the fragrant notes of Coorg, showing that even the giants of the technological world value a good cup of coffee with an Indian context.
The Bharat GI Coffee Lounge will be open until February 20, giving the delegates and visitors a chance to sample India's finest original coffees, the protection against origin, and the taste of quality coffee in India. One drink became one of the most discussed and touching events of the summit!
