The apex political change that took place in the Indian political landscape has been a single post-BJP opinion leader from West Bengal’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who has been elected as its top party-state leader in the state of West Bengal, and the BJP will have their first-ever West Bengal CM in their hands in the future. Amit Shah was officially known as the Union home minister after the historic victory in the assembly elections on 8 May 2026.

Adhikari, who thrashed Nandigram and also clinched the hometown of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Bhabanipur, was obviously the winner. The grand ceremony of taking over the oath will be held tomorrow, May 9, 2026, at 11 AM at Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata.

With this win, TMC will go down in history, and BJP will become the first party to get its government in the eastern state. The supporters have been enlivened with massive celebrations as ground is being prepared for the swearing-in ceremony, which will be attended by top BJP leaders. Adhikari has been credited as one of the biggest political shifts in modern Indian political history since becoming a former TMC minister to Bengal's new CM.
