Pakistan: Ahmad Sajjad, the top Hizbul Mujahideen hang-on, was killed by unknown shooters at his home. A senior terrorist, who was suspected of several of the attacks in Jammu & Kashmir, was also killed in a targeted shooting.
No information is available yet, but it is said that the attackers used direct blows to his house. No team has since taken charge, leading to rumors of internal conflicts, espionage, or local disputes. An investigation has been initiated by the Pakistan authorities.
Sajjad played an important role in the activities of Hizbul, brainwashing and recruiting militancy across the border. His assassination is regarded as a serious setback to the leadership of the outfit. Indian security agencies are keenly following the situation, as it may have repercussions.
This event also contributes to the increasing number of enigmatic assassinations of terror elements in Pakistan, which underscores the instability and extreme nature even of the high-profile militants who are working in Pakistan.
