US President Donald Trump has published the first photos of the alleged shooter who triggered a dramatic shooting scare at the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday night. The images, released on Truth Social, depict the 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen from Torrance, California, shirtless and on the ground face down with his hands behind his back as heavily armed Secret Service and police officers encircle him.
Allen, who worked part-time as a teacher and made video games, reportedly rushed a public checkpoint at the Washington Hilton with a shotgun, handgun, and knives. He began shooting before being quickly subdued. His online statements indicate Trump and the administration were his targets.
Trump lauded security's swift intervention, and the dinner would be rescheduled. One police officer was wounded, but his bulletproof vest saved his life. The pictures have spread, showing the mass panic that was avoided. The investigation continues.
