Upwards of 11.23 lakh students are attending JEE Main 2026 Session 2 in April on two fronts—and most of them are not aware of the most significant changes that NTA has implemented without any notice to them in the current year. There it is all in a nutshell.
Any changes in JEE Main 2026?
The most significant modification—no discursive questions anymore. In Section B, earlier students were given 10 questions, to which they were allowed to select 5. Section B is also mandatory in all 5 questions. There is also the negative marking where numerical questions are also considered now; therefore, the wrong answers will deduct marks even in Section B. And do not expect a calculator; NTA affirmed the fact that calculators of any kind are not to be carried inside the hall.
Full Exam Schedule:
- Paper 1 (B.Tech) — April 2, 4, 5, 6 and 8
- Paper 2A (B.Arch) and 2B (B.Planning)—April 7
- Result — by April 20, 2026
- JEE Advanced—May 17, 2026 (top 2.5 lakh qualify)
Paper Pattern:
There will be 75 questions, 25 questions each based on physics, chemistry, and mathematics. All the right answers receive +4 marks, whereas wrong ones receive -1 marks.
