Bengaluru is panicking after a video about a young man standing absolutely still by the roadside is shared on April 8, 2026, in a video spot inside the Bagalur region at Nitte College. This person seems inactive and unconscious of his environment, standing stationary for a long time even into blazing heat.

The users of social media have attributed the case to the so-called zombie drug, a lethal substance regularly tied to Xylazine, which is a veterinary tranquilizer that is sometimes combined with an opioid, fentanyl. As it is used, it may make its users enter a trance-like, frozen state, and this may result in drastic health-related complications.

It has attracted parallels with other cases of such incidents recorded in Chandigarh and Punjab in the past. The Bengaluru police have taken notice of this and launched an investigation into the issue. Law enforcers are yet to establish any connection to drug use, and some accounts indicate that the medical check-up of the man did not exhibit any apparent evidence of substance abuse.

Health professionals and governments have cautioned against the propagation of unproven claims and have accentuated the necessity to raise more awareness regarding synthetic drugs. Other videos of the same nature have been found in Bihar, which has triggered national alarm. The youth and their parents have been urged to be on their guard.

The incident has again brought to the limelight the increasing problem of substance abuse among urban Indians as investigations are being conducted.
