Wednesday saw Tamil Nadu Chief Minister/DMK president MK Stalin declare a black flag protest all over the state against the BJP-led center's intended delimitation bill, describing it as a black law and historic injustice to the southern states.
Stalin hoisted a black flag up himself and set fire to a copy of the bill in Namakkal, equating the agitation to the historic anti-Hindi agitations. He recommended that he call on people hoisting black flags within every household and industrial property for three days, threatening that this would severely lower the number of seats allocated to Tamil Nadu in parliament as an attempt to compensate for successful population control.
The DMK has scheduled massive demonstrations throughout the state as Parliament is about to bring the constitutional amendment in a special session. Stalin promised that the fire of opposition that had seen action in Tamil Nadu would now confront the arrogance of the center against federal entitlements of southern states. The protest is meant to bring forward protest over the perceived north-south disparity in the representation.
