TMC supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee leveled explosive charges of attack during the process of vote counting for the 2026 Assembly elections. She was talking outside the Bhabanipur counting center, where she claimed that since 3 pm they had been beating us; I was beaten and kicked and CCTV was switched off, and none of our agents would be admitted thereafter.
With the trends having the BJP just surging with more than 200 seats and the TMC at the bottom struggling with less than 100 seats on the trend, Mamata accused the rival party of looting more than 100 seats and the TMC failing to secure fewer than 100 seats. She too lost her personal bastion of Bhabanipur to BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari by a big margin.
The dramatic claims come amid reports of ruckus at multiple counting centers. Although TMC is outraged by the irregularities and lack of access, the Election Commission has not yet provided a detailed response. This will be the end of the 15-year rule that TMC has had in the state, and BJP is set to make a historic victory in West Bengal. Political tensions are at the boiling point, with both groups of people leveling allegations against each other.
