One of the most shocking predictions recently came out of a former advisor to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee: I think the BJP will come to power in West Bengal. The political circles of Bengal have been rocked by the statement as votes are being counted in the 2026 Assembly elections.
The former advisor, who had once been close to the TMC supremo, pointed out that the reasons behind the shift were now expected, such as anti-incumbency, organizational weaknesses, and strong BJP momentum in various regions. This is in light of the initial trends showing a close contest with Mamata Banerjee herself trailing in Bhabanipur to Suvendu Adhikari in some of the rounds.
Although TMC leaders dismissed the comment as being irrelevant, it has provided amusement within the BJP team, which is looking to make a breakthrough, after years of aggressive campaigning. Political observers believe that this is an indication of greater cracks as Bengal awaits the ultimate decision later today.
