Former Congress leader and former MLA Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu declared the formation of her own independent political party in one of the important firsts in Punjab politics. The move comes several months after she resigned in February of 2026 over internal matters in the Congress party, indicating that she did not have space to groom promising leaders and was reported to be corrupt, leading to her official expulsion.
Navjot Kaur Sidhu, who has formed a strong perception of Punjabiyat and development, has put the new party as an agenda based on the real issues of the state without dynastic politics and money-power. She has spoken out strongly about making Punjab a gold state and has indirectly attacked both the Congress and other parties.
Although the name, symbol, and entire agenda of the party are likely to be unveiled in the near future, it is said to challenge future elections with a major focus being women's empowerment, issues of farmers, and good governance. Active politics are also distanced, with her husband, Navjot Singh Sidhu, reportedly involved in entertainment.
Political experts think that the new front has the ability to divide the votes and further increase the churn before a 2027 assembly election of Punjab. Already interest and controversy are raised in the state concerning the launch, which will see Punjab in another bout of extreme political realignment.
