The volleyball campaign West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026 that began on April 3 reached a new height as Prime Minister Narendra Modi held April 9 rallies in Haldia and Birbhum, launching a fierce attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress. Modi cited the 2022 Bogtui carnage and accused TMC of releasing maha jungle raj and alleged that the party assists in infiltrating illicitly, but locals are bearing the consequences of their actions.

The PM made 6 promises to Bengal in case the BJP is elected to govern it: ruthless law and order to end fear, total accountability, prosecution of all closed cases of corruption and rape, imprisonment of corrupt TMC leaders no matter their rank, sending away the infiltrators, and putting the 7th Pay Commission into effect at once among state employees.

TMC, with Mamata Banerjee at the helm, has struck back in its defense of its welfare plan, attributing the BJP to divisive politics. Two pollings (April 23 and April 29) will be planned, and the results of the polls will be announced on May 4. The promises of infiltration and the governance promises took center stage in this battle over the future of Bengal, which is fiercely fought.
