On Monday, the crushing defeat of her party resoundingly in the 2026 assembly elections plunged West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee into the depths of a wretched existence, leaving her no option but to respond with accusations of BJP looting over 100 seats.
In an interview, Banerjee accused the BJP of conducting cash irregularities on a massive scale, further alleging that the election commission was the commission of the BJP. She claimed that when complaints were raised with officials, they turned a blind eye to that.
And of the victory of the BJP, by the word "illegal," she added, whatever the Election Commission has done, by the word "illegal," and by the Central Forces, and by the PM and Home Minister, is all illegal; it is loot, loot, loot.
The statements are made on the occasion when the state is about to see the BJP win the elections by a landslide vote, defeating the TMC, which had ruled long in the state. Other allegations made by Mamata pertained to counting centers (and/or agents were fired and CCTV problems).
The scandalous charges have caused a highly political discourse in the nation.
