President Donald Trump is calling for late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmel to be fired by ABC and Disney after telling a joke about First Lady Melania Trump having a "glow like an expectant widow" during a parody White House Correspondents' Dinner show last week.

During the sketch, Kimmel commented, "Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.” His comments have also proved to be controversial given they came just days before a shooting at the real Correspondents’ Dinner compelled the Trumps to take refuge.

Melania Trump labeled Kimmel’s comments "hateful and violent" and demanded the ABC "take a stand" against him. Trump also took to Truth Social to call the joke a "despicable call to violence" and for Kimmel to be fired.

The incident has reignited discussions about the nature of political comedy and its timings in the face of safety concerns for the president.
