Rajasthan Royals’ teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was back in the spotlight with a flamboyant MS Dhoni-style helicopter stroke in IPL 2026, during the high-scoring clash with the Punjab Kings.
Facing New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson in the second over of the run chase, he was confronted with a full-length pad attack at 145.8 km/h. The 15-year-old left-hander steadfastly lifted his front foot and slammed the ball with enormous wrist action to clear deep mid-wicket for a towering six.
The youngster hit 43 runs in only 16 balls, including several sixes, to get the Royals off to a blistering start in the run chase. His boldness and capacity to hit big shots against fast bowlers have been likened to the likes of Dhoni.
The helicopter shot, captured on video, has gone viral, with fans praising the young player as one of the game's rising stars. Sooryavanshi shines on in his IPL debut season.
