IPL was commenced in 2007 by BCCI, that is Board of Control for Cricket in India, specifically by his Chairman Lalit Modi. In its first season, there were 8 franchises. But in the coming IPL 2022, there will be 10 teams playing. This addition of 2 teams will benefit BCCI of 5000 crores and fans will be able to make the most out of this addition, as there will be 74 matches instead of 60. The base price set by BCCI for the teams is around 2000 crores each, adding up to approximately 5000 crores. If talking about names of the teams, it's speculated to be either Lucknow. Ahmedabad or Pune, but it's still not fixed.
The BCCI suspended the 14th edition of the IPL league 2021 in May this year, because of the Covid 19 spread across players. A total of 60 matches were scheduled for play, but On 4 May, the tournament was suspended indefinitely, after a rise in COVID-19 cases within the bio bubbles of respective teams, At the time of the suspension, 31 of the scheduled 60 matches were still left to be played. On 29 May 2021, the BCCI announced that the remaining matches of the tournament would be played in the United Arab Emirates in September and October this year, that is 2021.
