Abhishek Sharma used a jaw-dropping pyrotechnics show at the T20 World Cup 2026 final to smash the record for fastest fifty ever in a T20WC final when India won with 96 runs at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on March 8.
By choosing to be batsmen first, India lost its opener, Rohit Sharma, early, and Abhishek caused mayhem on the first ball itself. In only 19 deliveries, which meant 52 in half a century, he started hitting 6 fours and 4 sixes in one inning, and then he struck out in the 7th over. He started explosively, with two consecutive sixes off Matt Henry and a savage attack on Mitchell Santner that put India at 90/2 at the end of the powerplay, setting the stage for Sanju Samson to have 89/46 that was to dominate the match.
This breaking the record with the fastest final 50 (19 balls) was the culmination of Abhishek’s heroics in the tournament (which is the second fastest 50 ever recorded in tournament play). The fearless attitude of the left-hander was acclaimed by fans and also experts, as it helped in setting the mood in the historic third T20 World Cup victory of India and ICC hat trick.
