And on February 5, 2026, the final of the Women's Premier League, WPL 2026, was an exciting event held at the BCA stadium (Industrial City of Vadodara in Gujarat) arena. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Women, in a high-scoring game, which was worth the hype of the season finale, set a record when it came to chasing a huge target of 204 runs to win the game by six wickets and two balls to spare over Delhi Capitals (DC) Women. The win was the second ever WPL championship of RCB (their first since 2024), and their fifth defeat in a row at the final.

The DC record-setting batting performance.

Delhi Capitals, having been assigned the bat after the game was called by the RCB captain Smriti Mandhana throwing the dice and having chosen to play the field, made a post-imposing score of 203/4 in 20 overs—the highest in a WPL final ever. The score was fueled by aggressive top-order beating and intelligent acceleration.

The formidable drives and pulls were a stalemate with the sharp ability of Laura Wolvaardt (44 off 25 balls).

Jemimah Rodrigues held the middle with a classy 57 off 37 balls (including clusters of boundaries), her usual sophistication under pressure.

Lizelle Lee contributed a brisk 37, and all-rounder Chinelle Henry was not defeated on 35, and this made the difference in the late rush.

The bowlers of RCB made a tally of little breakthroughs, but there were tight spells by Lauren Bell (4-0-19-0, a match-winning economical performance with 12 dots) and wickets by Arundhati Reddy (1/40), Sayali Satghare (1/46), and Nadine de Klerk (1/48). The overall appearance of DC was intimidating, in particular, on a surface that was favorable to batting.

RCB Mandhana and Voll Masterclass: The Historic Chase.

Throughsooth in pursuit, RCB lost early opener Grace Harris (9 off 7) to Chinelle Henry, but this loss launched one of the best unions in WPL finals.

The captain of the ICC Holders team was Smriti Mandhana (87 off 41 balls, 12 fours, 3 sixes), and her knock resembled a captain's knock; her quickest WPL fifty, timed off 23 balls, was mixed with the power of hitting hard.

Georgia Voll (79 off 54 balls, 14 boundaries) matched so well with the purpose to attack and had the drive to strike and punish loose balls.

Their second-wicket partnership of 165 (with only 92 balls) made the game count, and the equation became easy and manageable: 30 off 21 balls. The attack made by Mandhana stopped the attack by DC, including Henry (2/34), who later replaced both set batters one after the other.

DC retaliated and took the lead again in the game as Mandhana, Voll, and Richa Ghosh took on board in 13 balls a total of 17 runs, leading the game back into the fray. Radha Yadav, however, required 4 more out of 4 balls in the last over, and she scored the boundary to seal it off in the last over (there had been a minor confusion when DC keeper Lizelle Lee dislodged a bail accidentally, but the umpires declared the hit-wicket would count nothing). Nadine de Klerk (7 7) and Radha Yadav (12 12) were not beaten when RCB scored 204/4 in 19.4 overs.

Key Highlights & Aftermath

Platter of the Month: Smriti Mandhana with her electric 87.

Record: Most consecutive finals in WPL; RCB is the second (after Mumbai Indians) team to win two trophies.

Post-Match Buzz: Mandhana sued Bell and the intent of Voll. On Instagram, Virat Kohli had celebrated, in praise of the female team. DC is characterized by its consistent end-of-year losses.

It was a dramatic conclusion to a competitive season in the WPL 2026, and women showed the best of this sport with power-hitting, drama, and strength.
