The Pentagon of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has levied 20% of his match fee and the first demerit point on the off-spinner and wicket-keeper of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Angkrish Raghuvanshi, for violating Level 1 of its code of conduct.
The offense happened during the side’s Match 38 clash with the Lucknow Super Giants when Raghuvanshi was dismissed for obstructing the field—a rare dismissal. His displeasure with the third umpire's decision resulted in a hard hit on the boundary cushion with his bat and, later, throwing his helmet on the ground in the dugout.
The IPL said he contravened Article 2.2 regarding the "abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment, or fixtures. "Raghuvanshi pleaded guilty.
Amid the drama, KKR went on to win the match by a thrilling Super Over. The 21-year-old's reaction has left fans talking on social media about player emotions and umpires' calls in crucial IPL matches. It's his first offense.
