Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has lauded Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer over his monstrous, extraordinary boundary-line achievement as he played against the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2026 game at Wankhede Stadium.
Iyer has come up with a gravity-defying relay catch to run MI captain Hardik Pandya out in the 18th over. When Iyer was running backwards close to the long-on boundary, he jumped, grabbed the ball, threw it right in the center of the air, and threw it, wisely, to his teammate, Xavier Bartlett, before the rope.
In response to X, Sachin posted, "The athleticism of the catch made by Shreyas Iyer was not the only thing, but the awareness in the move that he had to make to pass the ball to one of his teammates with the ball still in the air. " @ShreyasIyer15 made everything perfectly right. It was one of the finest catches that I ever witnessed live!
These, Iyer made the Master Blaster particularly note split-second decision-making, timing, fitness, and staying calm under pressure. The viral moment has been ballyhooed as among the highlights of fielding of the year.
