Royal Challengers Bengaluru resorted to winning ways and beat Mumbai Indians by a clinical 18-run margin in their IPL 2026 battle at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. Three-time champions RCB, led by blistering batting by opener Phil Salt (78 out of 36 balls), Virat Kohli (50 out of 38), and skipper Rajat Patidar (53 out of only 17 balls), scored a mammoth 240/4.
Kohli, playing the innings, scored his fifty but looked very disappointed with the low rate of hitting and never rejoiced. He was sacked soon after by Hardik Pandya and, in response, threw his gloves and helmet on his walk back, an incident that instantly went viral.
In response, Mumbai Indians only registered 222/5, with Sherfane Rutherford's oblivious 71 offering some late opposition. Bowlers of RCB, headed by a pair of hits by Suyash Sharma, kept the hosts at bay. The victory aids in the recovery of RCB, whereas MI lost their third straight match of the season.
