To repay an unforgettable show of thanks and customs, India captain Suryakumar Yadav and team head coach Gautam Gambhir went to the venerated Shree Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai on March 14, 2026, with the trophy presented at the T20 World Cup 2026. Jay Shah, the ICC Chairman, joined them and prayed to Lord Ganesha to bless them after India dominated New Zealand by 96 runs in the final match that was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 8.
The three were photographed with the shining trophy at the temple compound, which attracted masses of fans, religionists, and officials of the temple. Tripathi was the treasurer of the Siddhivinayak Temple Trust, who reported the visit to ANI and said that it was a thanksgiving event for the historic success of the T20 World Cup, the first held in India, and for a triple of recent ICC trophies.
The scenes and videos of the occasion circulated on social media, and the fans noted how humble and devoted the players were. It is a kind of echo of the traditions of the previous years, such as post-2024 WC temple stops, which symbolize faith and humility during national festivities.
