Mumbai Indians remain stuck in IPL 2026 and lost by seven wickets to Punjab Kings at Wankhede Stadium on April 16, but an even greater conversation has been an on-field argument between Jasprit Bumrah and captain Hardik Pandya that has gone viral.
In the pursuit of Punjab, cameras were able to capture a shot of Bumrah bowling when Hardik intervened in order to change the field to his plan. Bumrah first protested and seemed to be losing his temper with the ruling, waving his hands. He later went in to take the call of the captain but looked disappointed as he went on with his overture.
The video went viral on the internet, and fans were theorizing that there was tension in the MI camp as the team was losing. Hardik has been attacked over his captaincy decisions such as bowling changes, where Bumrah, who failed to take a wicket during the match, was used.
Although these on-field confrontations are normal in the field of cricket, the times have created a lot of scrutiny on leadership and team dynamics in the Mumbai Indians. The franchise has not yet commented on it officially.
