Virat Kohli has finally broken his silence on the intense speculation surrounding his future in Indian cricket and the 2027 ODI World Cup. Speaking on a Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) podcast, the 37-year-old batting maestro made it clear that while he is fully committed to playing for India, the relationship must be based on mutual value.
“Of course, if I’m playing, I want to carry on. Playing a World Cup for India is amazing. But the value has to be two-sided,” Kohli said. He emphasized that he no longer wants to be in a space where he constantly has to prove his worth despite his dedication and preparation.
Kohli revealed he has been repeatedly asked about his 2027 plans and affirmed his desire to represent India in South Africa, provided he continues to add value to the team and feels valued in return. “If I have to prove my worth and value, that place is not meant for me,” he added firmly.
With over 14,000 ODI runs and a stellar record, Kohli remains one of India’s finest white-ball batters. His comments come amid ongoing discussions about the team’s transition and senior players’ roles. Fans and experts see this as a strong signal of his intent to chase another World Cup glory, provided the environment supports his legendary standards. This clarity has ignited fresh excitement among cricket enthusiasts worldwide.
