Virat Kohli, the star of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, vented his frustrations in big drama in the IPL 2026 game against the Mumbai Indians held at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. Kohli had hit his 65th IPL half-century in 37 balls, and instead of celebrating the occasion, he evidently did not like his strike rate of about 131 in a high-scoring event.
Only two balls after, he was sent away by Hardik Pandya, as Suryakumar Yadav caught him on the run. When he started to walk back to the pavilion, a clearly exasperated Kohli tossed his gloves at the boundary cushion and threw away his helmet on the ground in exasperation.
Captured on camera, the incident soon went viral with fans split in their reactions. His self-deception was interpreted by many given his swift disappointment at the opposing rapid knocks by his teammates such as Phil Salt and Rajat Patidar, whereas others saw it as a rare emotional outburst by the otherwise calm King Kohli. It is another situation that has brought out the high standards and the strong passion that Kohli has towards the game despite having scored a half-century.
