In an unprecedented move, Piramal Finance has fully appointed 262 entry-level sales executives without any human interaction in the hiring process, hiring them solely through man-made intelligence using bots. The recruitment period was during the 3 months from March 2026.

MD&CEO of the AI system, Jairam Sridharan, said the system has been able to conduct voice-based interviews in various languages, rate candidates uniformly, and leave decision-making at the end alone. The objective is to be less biased, quicken hiring, and ensure uniformity in assessment for large numbers of frontline jobs.

Piramal Finance, which has assets of over ₹1 trillion, will recruit around 20,000 people this fiscal year. The company continues to implement the use of AI in its operations in a manner that allows it to deliver ‘non-linear scalability' while maintaining headcount expansion.

The achievement demonstrates how far India's banking industry has come in the quest for full autonomy with AI-driven recruitment and could potentially set the tone for its future expansion across various sectors.
