In a frank interview about JECRC University on the Figuring Out podcast, vice chairman Arpit Agrawal refuted the conventional obsession with degrees, mentioning four high-value skills that can generate better income than an expensive college education.
These skills are coding, video editing, digital marketing, and growth marketing. Agrawal noted they are available in boot camps, online, and self-taught with very little time and money needed compared to spending 10 lakh to get a degree but offer wages of 5 lakh per year and over 1 crore+ to the best students.
He gave the examples of self-educated editors and marketers that soon earned 1-2 lakh rupees per month. Although he admits that credentials offer organization, contacts, and long-term benefits in certain professions, Agrawal emphasized that portfolios and demonstrated abilities are more important in creative and technology-focused jobs than any particular degree.
In the competitive world of the 2026s, skills plus practical experience will be a quicker ROI on many young Indians who desire to be financially independent but with little student debt.
